The Health Care Aide program will assist you in becoming an essential part of a health care team. The program involves a combination of delivery models including labs and clinical placements. The curriculum was developed by the Government of Alberta and upon graduation students receive a Bow Valley College/Government of Alberta Health Care Aide Certificate. This is a short term (4 months) program and it does not qualify for the Post-Graduate Work Permit program.
Practical Nurses are integral part of the Alberta health care team. As members of a self-regulating profession they use knowledge and skill to assess, interpret and develop client care, perform a wide variety of prescribed medical treatments and advocate for safe, comfortable environments and care for their clients. Our Practical Nurse program educates you to provide high-quality nursing in acute care hospitals, long term care facilities and in the community.
Graduates from this program go on to write the Canadian Practical Nurse Registration Exam (CPNRE) to be eligible for licensure with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
In Alberta, the demand for Pharmacy Technicians is increasing. Learn to prepare compounds & sterile products and dispense medications during your two months practicum in a hospital or community pharmacy.
Our diploma program has Full Accreditation Status with the Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP), preparing graduates for the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada’s national certification exam.
