Living in Calgary
Welcome to Calgary
Bow Valley College is right in the heart of Calgary, one of Canada’s safest and most dynamic cities, with a young population of just over a million people.
Sure, Canada can be cold and Calgary does get an opportunity to celebrate winter each year. But living in winter isn't all bad - all buildings are centrally heated and so is most public transportation, and even in winter the sun is still shinning. In fact, Calgarians enjoy plenty of sunshine all year long.
Calgary is also an economic hub in Canada, boasting one of the highest average wages of any city in Canada. Over the last 10 years, we've had the lowest average unemployment rate of all major Canadian cities. As a result, Bow Valley College graduates have found employment quickly after graduating from their programs and continue to enjoy the city's economic vitality.
But Calgary isn't all work and no play. There is a rich cultural and artistic scene in Calgary, it has an outstanding record of public safety, and is regularly voted one of the top cities in the world in which to live.
The city boasts thousands of parks and the most extensive urban pathway system in all of North America. Just an hour to the west, Canada’s magnificent Rocky Mountains offer climbing, biking, skiing, hiking and other mountain adventures.
Bow Valley College’s newly expanded campus is right downtown, just steps from Calgary’s light rail transit and extensive bus system, providing easy access to and from campus from anywhere in the city.
